What We Work On

Our obedience program builds practical, reliable skills that make a real difference in your dog's behavior and your quality of life together.

Sit, Stay & Down

The essential building blocks of any well-trained dog. We build duration, distance, and distraction resistance so these commands are reliable in real-world situations — not just in the backyard.

Heel & Leash Manners

A dog that walks calmly on leash is a joy to own. We teach a focused heel and proper leash behavior so walks become something you look forward to rather than a workout in frustration.

Recall (Come When Called)

A reliable recall is one of the most important commands a dog can have — and one of the most commonly lost. We build a response that works even in high-distraction environments.

House Manners

Great behavior doesn't stop at the door. We work on door manners, calm greetings, off furniture when asked, and overall household civility so your dog is a pleasure to live with.

Impulse Control

A dog with impulse control makes better decisions. We teach your dog to pause, check in, and wait for direction rather than reacting impulsively to every distraction or stimulus.

Owner-Dog Communication

Training isn't just about the dog — it's about building a clearer language between you and your dog. We help you understand how to communicate effectively so the results last.

Obedience Training FAQs

How old does my dog need to be to start obedience training?
We can begin foundational training with puppies as young as 8–10 weeks. Older dogs can absolutely be trained too — adult dogs often focus very well once they understand what's being asked of them.
How long does an obedience program typically last?
Most basic obedience programs run 4–8 weeks depending on your dog's starting point and goals. We'll give you a more specific timeline after we've had a chance to discuss your dog's current behavior.
Will the training hold once my dog is back home?
Yes — with some effort on your part. When your dog completes the program, we'll walk you through how to maintain what's been taught so you can continue building on the foundation we've established together.
Is obedience training right for my adult dog with bad habits?
Absolutely. We regularly work with adult dogs that have developed pulling, jumping, selective hearing, or other unwanted behaviors. A structured program can make a significant difference at any age.
Do you offer training for dogs with anxiety or reactivity?
It depends on the severity. For mild to moderate behavioral issues including leash reactivity and nervousness, our programs are often very helpful. Contact us to describe what you're seeing and we'll be honest about what we can do.
